Today is for dreaming, like in my dreams ordering fried chicken today is in my best interest. The taste buds combined with an addictive personality and twisted reasoning are contributing to the delinquency and addition of unwelcome pounds on this body.....no instead, I'll heat some corn tortillas on the stove, slice the perfectly ripened avocado, add slices of the amazing tomato for an easy delicious lunch. There is harmony in the kitchen with simultaneously ripening savory fruit.
Today is for dreaming and remembering that I found a heart shaped catsup stain on my big toe, the left one. I'd been cleaning the catsup bottle and in my earnest attempt, squeezed too hard........thought I'd cleaned it all up. Lo and behold I saw it. Perhaps I needed reminding. Love. Perhaps I needed a sign. Love. Perhaps, I need a bath. Love.
Today is for dreaming and adding to my Amazon wish list: 1.Nelson Mandela's autobiography Conversations with Myself....written on what seemed like every piece of paper available to him, imprisoned, impassioned, patient, persevering, mystic. 2. Some Eminem, another poet, wordsmith, they were profiled on 60 Minutes last night, I was struck by the prolific notebooks kept by them both. 3. The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llorsa for obvious reasons. 4.I'd like to read a biography about George S. Kaufman and add 5. Tim Gunn's Golden Rules, he's very honest and I like that. Recently I read The Fall the second in a series by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan and I Am Number Four by Pitticus Lore....nice to have a young nephew in the midst who shares what the cool kids are reading.....I read all the Girl With tomes, obviously not written by a foodie, cause his characters seem to rely on coffee and sandwiches and bad pizza for sustenance, nonetheless I loved the books....but hated the first movie.
Today is for dreaming. And watching those Netflix movies I've neglected can't remember all the titles, but one is a documentary about Russian poet, Anna Alchmatova, not many stars to recommend it, but I find her fascinating. Her work was read at the Stray Dog Cafe in St. Petersburg. Tall, thin and striking, she suffered and picked bad boyfriends. Somewhere online, I read a game was created where people took turns reciting lines of her poetry, til a whole book was read.....imagine. Must memorize a poem.
Today is for dreaming.
