Summer, still here. I've enjoyed the cooler clime, it amazes me when I hear weather people dismayed at the lack of 80 degree plus days. They are insane. I've managed to survive the heat without my window AC, of course it means the standing fan is always blowing my way. I guess it's like a Beyonce performance, no photos from the back, only my hair is up and in no mood to perform. "all the single ladies..."

I've done my best to create cross currents and the rice paper on some of my windows can only shield me from so much sun...........I did not want to cover the entire window and I'm short so there is a good gap of sun that manages to create a warmer environ. The paper is beautiful, white with spiral designs.........reminds me of a beautiful ring from the Chalice Well in Glastonbury: silver spiral over a mother of pearl circle, if I had a digital camera I would post it...........while I was in the gift shop, I overheard a woman say something like the thing about a circle is it goes round and round and round, while a spiral allows you to go round and round and ultimately work your way out........it made so much sense at the time, still does - to me. So the ring and the spirals in the rice paper remind me to be in the spiral...............

I've been spending a lot of time perusing Etsy and blogs by designers and decorators............I'm inspired to decorate my place. I used to be so much better about creating visually interesting vignettes in my home. I did buy some cardboard paisley magazine holders on sale 2 for $3.99.......at World Market. They're silkscreened in pinks and orange........bright way to justify hoarding my zines.

So I'm gathering beautiful ideas for decorating ideas, they include vintage wallpaper, down filled cushions on beautiful couches, chandeliers, throw rugs, mirrored furniture, pillows, white furniture..........and all impossible with nary a decorating budget. So I continue to gather info and I am sated.

I was really saddened about the liquidation of 20th Century Props........(think that's the official name) beautiful props. I like the idea of things being cared for by people who love and appreciate them...........I'm a sucker for most things vintage and pink and leopard and lucite and mid century and deco and..........everything.

Caught the first Johnny Weismueller Tarzan movie last night. I love Tarzan, I love Johnny Weismueller and Cheetah. A girl (Jane) can scream her head off and find herself rescued by someone who can hoist her from danger with one arm..........

Summer is here. My relatives are in town and traditionally they serve to remind me, it's summer. I am designed for winter, but now that my brother and his son are here, there is someone to chase the paleta man, there is someone with a penchant for grilling in the backyard, there is a reason for iced colas and pitchers of sweet tea in the fridge and piles and pile of steaming flour tortillas. My brother offers rides, carries buckets of heavy cat litter up two flights of stairs and my nephew answers my countless questions as I try to decipher who this young man is. The basement gets cleared, there is someone strong enough to throw out the old couch, air conditioners are put in place and Sushi declines invitations to visit downstairs. I would like to take Jacob to see Arabian Nights at Lookingglass Theater if the two for one ticket offer still exists. He's a natural actor now more determined to make his mark as a wrestler. Video games get played til the wee hours, towels are left on the bathroom floor and I see firsthand that skid marks are not for the streets alone............
I sit in the company of a sibling who truly likes me, summer is here.
